On a qualifying new build up to $1,000,000, the federal rebate can eliminate the full 5% GST — up to a $50,000 maximum. Between $1M and $1.5M the rebate phases out; above $1.5M there is no rebate.
Does Alberta have a provincial GST rebate too?
No. Alberta has no provincial sales tax, so the rebate conversation is about the federal 5% GST only.
